It is not a new thing for members of a ruling party to claim to be victims when the very obvious evidence says otherwise. Antebellum slave owners claimed to be victimized by abolitionists. Klan Kreeps have always argued that Jews use Blacks as muscle to come after June and Ward Cleaver. Hitler claimed that Germany was victimized by a tiny percentage of its people who somehow hijacked the Treaty of Versailles. Now, still Israel claims to be victimized when even the most myopic person knows that anytime there is a confrontation between them and Palestinian protestors, the protestors are always on the losing end.
Still, it is a popular position to take. The toddler in Chief claims all the time that American whites are dominated by BLM activists (black cops are bumping off unarmed whites?), Mexican and Central American immigrants are posing a danger to us all, (their crime involvement statistics are among the lowest in the country), that every country disparages the U.S. for its trade policy (don’t we have the largest economy in the world?), that trans people represent a threat to us all (when was the last time a group of trans women beat a straight man to death?), the list is endless. Bullocks! What is the gender and race of nearly every single mass shooter?!
This is just a small sample, of course, but am I supposed to believe that THEY are the victims?!
In this example, Gavin McInnes claims that somehow the SPLC victimized the Proud Boys, who have explicitly advocated violence and who make a big, honking point of using anti Muslim and anti woman rhetoric. They have been involved in multiple beatings of left wing activists and currently provide “security” for champion Right Wing Creep, Roger “Swine Swinger” Stone.
Lord knows….we need to protect the freedom of such good Americans. Who knows? Maybe Charles Manson’s rights are being tread upon…..Oh, wait. He’s been dead since 2017. Maybe the Proud Boys can do something useful, like make sure his grave is secure.
